PUBLIC CONSULTATION EVENT
We greatly value the views of the community, on the 12th March we are holding a consultation event where the public are free to come and ask questions to representatives of our planning team.
Welcome to our Public Consultation & Community Engagement
Thank you for taking part in our virtual public consultation on proposals for new housing in Wallington. We’re excited to share our proposals for a new residential development in the area and we’d love to hear what you think.
Following initial feedback we have now revised the scheme proposals, substantially reducing the number of homes along with increasing green spaces. We continue to welcome feedback from the public as we look to submit our scheme for planning.
Our Proposal for Wallington Nurseries
We are intending to build up to 104 new homes, with at least 50% of the development delivering new affordable homes. The site will feature a mix of 2 - 4 bed homes and 1 - 2 bed flats.
The development will be predominantly 2.5 storey homes, with some 3 storey properties in the inner zone of the development. This is to ensure the development is in keeping with near-by homes.
Following initial feedback from the community, we have asked our architects to revise the scheme from 130 to 104 units. This will enable us to retain more green space, along with protect trees to the North & South of the scheme.
Accessibility
The site is located within approximately a 20-minute walking distance or an 8-minute cycling distance of Wallington Town Centre, which provides a comprehensive range of community facilities and services, including but not limited to:
• A large Sainsbury’s supermarket, Lidl, and a Tesco Express
• Wallington Family Practice (GP surgery) and a number of pharmacies
• Wallington Library
• Banking facilities
• A wide range of cafés, restaurants, and public houses.
This development represents a modern, carefully designed addition to Wallington - one that will bring significant social, economic, and environmental benefits. These include:
Meeting local housing needs
Up to 104 high-quality new homes, in a range of sizes and styles, to suit the needs of local people at different stages of life.
Affordable homes for the community
The new homes will be affordable, helping local people and families who wish to stay in Wallington to find a home they can afford.
Boosting local jobs and the economy
The project will support hundreds of jobs, both during construction and through the local supply chain, benefiting businesses across Sutton and beyond
Green, attractive and sustainable spaces
Generous landscaping, new planting, and biodiversity enhancements will make the development an attractive place to live, with strong connections to surrounding green spaces.
Protecting existing nature
Mature trees and hedgerows will be retained wherever possible, helping to maintain the area’s rural character.
Better walking and cycling connections
Safe, convenient links will be created to local facilities encouraging active travel.
Future-ready, energy-efficient homes
Every home will be built to high energy efficiency standards to help reduce household running costs.
